Tape sampling in the 21st century

Inspired by the sound of recordings made with old tape (from mellotrons to the radiophonic workshop), Tronsonic creates sample packs for your software sampler recorded using only 60's analogue equipment and a high-end analogue to digital converter (the simplest chain possible - no other processing used) - designed for playback and especially synthesis experimentation.

The connection to the mellotron and other tape based keyboards (like the chamberlain and birotron) is merely that I wanted to give the samples the same type of sonic characteristics - such as the wow and flutter of worn tape (resulting in subtle pitch and eq variations), as well as adding various types of harmonic distortion, through the use of high quality original 60's valves and transformers. This combination of processing adds a rich quality to the samples, and reacts extremely well to filtering and modulation, providing an incredibly potent analogue personality to the instrument.

The emphasis is on analogue warmth and sonic character - attempting to help
address the great 'analogue vs. digital' debate, by fusing the two formats together - resulting in a hybrid style of sample that offers the best of both worlds, and most importantly sounds enticing and pleasing to the ear.
I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel - tape sampling has been around for decades - but I am setting out to bring this magic sound to peoples attention and provide new and unique instruments and synths using this old technology.
